A new partnership has been announced by Mike Harmon Racing. The NASCAR Xfinity racing team will be working with the Shadow Warrior Project for this 2018 season. The nonprofit organization will be featured on the team’s honor hood which is dedicated to a service related cause or figure during every race. The Shadow Warrior Project will take its place as primary sponsor and honor hood recipient on Saturday, February 17, 2018 for the Daytona International Speedway race.

The founders of the Shadow Warriors Project have expressed excitement over this new partnership saying,

“It is such an honor to have our logo on the hood of the Mike Harmon number 74 NASCAR Xfinity Series Dodge Challenger! What an amazing opportunity to bring awareness to our cause as well as honor our warriors and their families. When this car crosses the finish line, it is more than just a car. It will be representing a different race and struggle that our warriors face everyday.” ~Mark “Oz” Geist

Founded by Mark “Oz” Geist and his wife Krystal, a private security contractor and one of the Benghazi heroes who saved over 25 lives during the September 11-12, 1012 attacks on the US Consulate and CIA annex. The injuries he sustained during this attack resulted were both mental and physical, resulting in over two years of surgeries and rehabilitation. During this time, the Geist family became aware of the limited short term assistance and nonexistent long term assistance systems put in place by Mark Geist’s employer.

The Geist family’s experience navigating the “red tape” in the wake of the events that took place at Benghazi left them determined to make sure other families affected from injuries as a result of private contracting work would not face the same difficulties. With this in mind, Mark and Krystal Geist set out to establish the Shadow Warriors Project, a nonprofit dedicated to providing support to private military security contractors that conduct paramilitary security operations in regions that are often some of the most dangerous in the world. The Shadow Warrior project is committed to providing monetary support gathered through donations to injured private contractors in order to ease the financial stress on injured contractors and their families so that energy can be focused on individual and familial healing in the wake of such tragedies.
