Giants Shut Out As Diamondbacks Pitching Dominates

The San Francisco Giants came into Chase Field to take on the Diamondbacks after winning their last 2 of 3 games. But tonight, they ran into a bullpen that was looking to prove where they stand in the majors.

The Diamondbacks would shut out the Giants tonight by the score of 7-0. The pitching staff would strike out a total of nine Giants during the game, led by starting pitcher Merrill Kelly who had six.

Yoshihisa Hirano would come in to the game with the bases loaded and only one out in the sixth inning, and he would strike out the last two in the inning to keep the Giants off the score board.

As far as the Diamondbacks offense …

Braves Avoid 5th Straight Loss Against Diamondbacks

It wasn’t a pretty game by any means but the Atlanta Braves finally managed to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night by a final score of 2-1.

In their previous four meetings, including three in Atlanta, the Braves had lost all four, and were also swept while hosting Arizona. So to say that tonight’s win was a relief was an understatement.

Tonight’s game was a pitchers duel from the beginning. The Atlanta Braves went with Julio Teheran who came into tonight struggling with a 2-4 record and an ERA over 4.60. The Diamondbacks countered with their ace, Zack Greinke, who had came into tonight’s game with a record of 5-1 and an ERA of 3.42.

Neither team really got …

Diamondbacks Come Up Short (about 3 feet) Against Cubs in 15th

I’ve been asking myself this same question since the game ended as I sit here in the press box at Chase Field. How the hell did that game just end like that? The Diamondbacks gave the Cubs everything that they could handle and came up about three feet short from the win in 15 innings!

The Cubs and Diamondbacks came into today’s game having split the first two games on Friday and Saturday. This was an opportunity to not only get the series win and tie the season series at 3-3, but it was an opportunity for the Diamondbacks to show the Cubs that they can play on their level.

Even with the loss tonight, I think that the Cubs …

Arizona Diamondbacks Strand 10; Lose 5-4

This seems to be a common story for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the early part of the 2019 season. They are having a hard time finding that clutch hit. They will come back and tie the game, but for some reason they just can’t get that one that makes the difference.

The Arizona Diamondbacks had runners in scoring positions in six of the nine innings, including the final inning after Ketel Marte led off with a double off the right field wall. They would then follow up that clutch hit with strikeouts by Locastro, Peralta, and Walker.

Why Torey Lovullo decided against bunting over Marte to follow the his double is beyond me. I guess you could say that they …

Diamondbacks Pitching Stellar; Bats Fall Flat In Loss

PHOENIX, AZ- The Arizona Diamondbacks are still trying to find their identity on offense as they dropped their third straight on the young season. This includes tonight’s 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres.

Diamondbacks starter, Luke Weaver took his first loss of the season (0-1) even after pitching 6 and 1/3rd innings, striking out eight, and only allowing two earned runs while spreading out five hits. He allowed a home run by Manny Machado in the 1st inning, but then didn’t allow another run until the 7th inning after back-to-back doubles by Myers and Tatis.

The Diamondbacks bullpen, more specifically Hirano, Lopez, and Holland would hold the Padres scoreless the remainder of the game.

But other than an RBI …
