Diamondbacks Trade All-Star Goldschmidt To Cardinals

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired RHP Luke Weaver (@DreamWeava7), C Carson Kelly (@carskelly), INF Andrew Young (@AndyjYoung15) and a 2019 Competitive Balance Round B draft pick (No. 6) from the St. Louis Cardinals for INF Paul Goldschmidt. The D-backs’ 40-man roster is now at 37.

“I would like to personally thank Paul Goldschmidt for everything he did as a D-back,” said D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Mike Hazen. “It’s not often you come across a player of his caliber who carries himself with such selflessness and humility, both on and off the field, while representing the organization and the state of Arizona.”

Weaver, 25, was 7-11 with a 4.95 ERA (75 ER in 136.1 IP) and …

Can The Arizona Diamondbacks Win The NL West?

Thinking optimistically, it would be a win for the season for the Arizona Diamondbacks to even make it back to the postseason for consecutive years.  It would also be a win for manager Torrey Lovullo to take the team to the postseason in his first two years of his reign in the desert.  So do they need to win the National League West to be a legit threat for a title, or will consecutive returns to the wild-card game be a win?  The real question here is not if they need to win to be legit.  The question here is do the Arizona Diamondbacks have what it takes to win the NL West and overtake the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers?…

Diamondbacks Use “Home Cooking” To Get Back On Top!

As the weather begins to really heat up in Arizona, so do the Diamondbacks.  While some say that they were just taking advantage of weaker competition in the form of the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins, Arizona’s slump seems to be coming to an end.  After scoring just 42 runs in their last 18 games prior, the Diamondbacks scored 42 runs in their last six-game home stand.

“We’ve still got a long ways to go” said Diamondbacks skipper, Torey Lovullo, when asked about the team’s latest performance at home.  And he’s right, the team does still have a long ways to go since it is only the beginning of June.  But it’s really good to see this offense clicking again.…

Nationals Don’t Play Nice In The Desert!

PHOENIX, AZ- The Washington Nationals are one of the hottest teams in baseball at this time.  On the other side, the Arizona Diamondbacks are officially in a “slump” that they badly need to get out of.  Let’s recap:

Coming into this series, the Diamondbacks had tied the Dodgers in two series, they beat the defending champs in a 3-game series, and they also went on the road and took two of three games in D.C..  As a matter of fact, coming into this series against the Nationals, the Arizona Diamondbacks had not lost a single series this season.  But……

Coming into this series, the offense for the Diamondbacks had only two games in their last thirteen where they scored five …

Strasburg Strong As Arizona Continues Slide

Article by Jeff Demers | Heroes Media Group | May 12, 2018

PHOENIX- Stephen Strasburg went 6.2 innings for the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon, allowing only one run, and striking out nine.  The Arizona Diamondbacks have now dropped four games in a row, three to the Nationals, and are 3-7 in their last 10 games.

Despite the bad last two weeks (about), Arizona has managed to keep a three game lead over the Rockies in the NL West.  If it wasn’t for the fact that all of the teams are in losing streaks right now in the NL West, this lead would have been gone days ago.  Despite the slide, there are still some positives.  But I’m not …
