Diamondbacks Trade All-Star Goldschmidt To Cardinals

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired RHP Luke Weaver (@DreamWeava7), C Carson Kelly (@carskelly), INF Andrew Young (@AndyjYoung15) and a 2019 Competitive Balance Round B draft pick (No. 6) from the St. Louis Cardinals for INF Paul Goldschmidt. The D-backs’ 40-man roster is now at 37.

“I would like to personally thank Paul Goldschmidt for everything he did as a D-back,” said D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Mike Hazen. “It’s not often you come across a player of his caliber who carries himself with such selflessness and humility, both on and off the field, while representing the organization and the state of Arizona.”

Weaver, 25, was 7-11 with a 4.95 ERA (75 ER in 136.1 IP) and …

Can The Arizona Diamondbacks Win The NL West?

Thinking optimistically, it would be a win for the season for the Arizona Diamondbacks to even make it back to the postseason for consecutive years.  It would also be a win for manager Torrey Lovullo to take the team to the postseason in his first two years of his reign in the desert.  So do they need to win the National League West to be a legit threat for a title, or will consecutive returns to the wild-card game be a win?  The real question here is not if they need to win to be legit.  The question here is do the Arizona Diamondbacks have what it takes to win the NL West and overtake the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers?…

Fernando Rodney Gets 300th Save In Diamondbacks Win!

Fernando Rodney is about as hot as any closer can be at this point in the season.  After successfully converting all 12 save chances in August, Fernando Rodney has converted five or six save chances in the month of September.  He now has a total of 39 saves this season, which puts him in 3rd in the National League among closers, behind Greg Holland (41, COL), and Kenley Jansen (40, LAD).  But last night’s save was special for Fernando Rodney because it was his 300th of his career.  This puts him tied for 26th all-time in saves, and ONLY 352 behind Mariano Rivera for the greatest all-time.  But, given that Fernando Rodney is 40 years old, it’s highly unlikely that …

The DBacks Dime: Arizona 2nd Best In The West

The title of this article shouldn’t just be The Dbacks Dime: Arizona 2nd Best In The West. It should be “The Dbacks Dime: Arizona Is Playing Out Of Their Friggin’ Minds Right Now Due To Some Awesome Pitching And One Of The Top Offenses In The League!” But for now, I’ll just keep the shorter version and use the rest of this article to go a little more in-depth on why I’m excited to be covering the Arizona Diamondbacks right now.

In their last 10 games, Arizona is 8-2, with their only losses coming on the road to Colorado, and one game at home last Friday night to the Phillies. And to be honest, the Phillies needed that win …

Chris Taylor Launches Dodgers Into 2nd Half!

Chris Taylor had only played in 15 games prior to the 2nd half opener for the Dodgers on Friday night.  And in those 15 games, he went 4 for 19, with a triple, and a run scored.  That’s not much to write home about for the rookie second baseman acquired by LA earlier this year from Seattle.  With Utley still not playing well after coming back from injury, Taylor has to start playing well if he’s going to stay in the Majors longer than a week or two.  And on Friday night, he delivered.

Taylor would go 3 for 5 against the Diamondbacks, scoring three times, and knocking in six.  The six runs included his first career home run, which …
