2019 Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championships

VMI 96   Western Carolina 83

(Asheville, NC) – When it comes to basketball in March, it’s common knowledge that the team that defends the best will have the upper hand in typically close, tense games. But in the opening game of the 2019 Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Tournament Friday night, defense took a backseat as VMI (8-24, 4-14) rode the red-hot shooting of sophomore Bubba Parham to run past Western Carolina 96-83 in the U.S. Cellular Center.

Parham, the SoCon’s leading scorer at 20.8 points per game, dropped a career high 41 on six of eight shooting from behind the arc to lead all scorers. Parham’s effort ties him for the 7thmost points in SoCon Tournament history, and are …

The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Northwestern Wildcats late Saturday night, earning their second straight Big Ten title–and third in five years–at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins further pushed his name into the minds of Heisman voters with an elite-caliber performance against a lacking Northwestern secondary, setting Big Ten Championship Game records for completions (34), passing yards (499), and touchdowns (5).

Ohio State jumped to an early lead, marching down the field and scoring their first touchdown of the game in less than five minutes.

Northwestern brought the game even when running back John Moten IV found a hole and ran 77 yards for a touchdown.

A Burning Desire

It has been 19 years since bonfire collapsed and if the University had it their way it never would have been built again. Fortunately the tradition has been carried on off campus.

Although A&M …
