Dover International Speedway’s One Main Financial 200

Written by on 06/05/2017

If you are a NASCAR fan then there is a good chance you watched the One Main Financial 200 and followed Kyle Larson into Victory Lane after leading 137 laps at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware.  However, there is much more that happened this weekend at the track.

The #74 Car driven by Mike Harmon and the Veteran Motorsports Inc. team was pushed to the limits, overcoming obstacles after the first round of practice.  The team had two hours to change the entire due to an oil pump belt that broke. After getting that engine replaced successfully, they got the car back on the track and qualified in the 40th position.  Mike ran a smooth and clean race working his way through the field and finishing the race in the 25th position.  If that isn’t awesome in itself, take a look at the team Mike has asked to watch over and help him on the way.  A team made up of veterans called Veterans Motorsports Inc. their mission is to have veterans involved track side helping the pit crew.  This week was no different as they had a special “GAS MAN” Mr. James Frascona-Cochran, Navy veteran (who is still serving) in the pit looking like he might have done this before.  It was a special day for him not only because he was the “GAS MAN” but the hood of the car was special because it had the HM-15 Blackhawks on it, which is the unit James currently servers with.

We also want to recognize a special someone who works behind the screens at makes it all come together.  As fans we only really get to see what happens on T.V. and really don’t get to see all the hard work and dedication that people do to get the team ready each week.  We want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Karyn Marinella—Cochran the COO at Veterans Motorsports Inc.  She is the glue that keeps everything going. She has done such an amazing job that others in and around the track have taken notice.  She has set up these Honor Cars and has worked countless hours to make sure this team gets the recognition that it deserves.

Mike Harmon Racing and Veteran Motorsports Inc. are setting the bar high for other teams in NASCAR when it comes to honoring our nations heroes.  This is a team you need to watch and support.  Next stop Pocono Raceway!
